PLUG THAT HOLE
May 30, 2010

And so the president shallowly claimed victory over the war in the gulf (of Mexico) within 72 hours of speculation that the spilling oil from the Texas gulf had ceased--and the plug failed.  Ironically over the Memorial Weekend we heard a flacid acknowledment of the blood from our wounded and dead warriors. Lest he forget that he is Commander-in-chief of all our servicemen and women, living or dead.

No matter what the White House may claim or posture, Obama’s hands are wringing with the same soiled oil hands and inability for his office to stake any real claim of victory over the Fountain Head of his 2-year administration’s failure. Out damn spot. Out. And now the plug has failed.

While the president was caught slightly interested in oil balls washing ashore this weekend, Obama was seemingly unaffected by the aura of his planned and conspicuous absence from Arlington; dedicated to those whose blood washed ashore in many wars.

Obama, the American Svengali of PR is trapped. More than the spotty weaves of his history; it is his cumulative failures over the less than two-year brief history that now illuminates his sophomoric naïveté to manage as a leader. This situation demands 24/7-leadership—and not just Gulf disaster management. We require a great leader; and to lead us from the darkness we now face requires humble service.

Unfortunately, America may be lost; awashed in the unfathomable mediocrity of the Obama administration; empowered by the wasteful inheritents of the new world order. We need a change. Let's hope change it begins in November at the ballot box, and pray that the hole at the gulf is finally plugged.
